During the period when your cat is recovering from an illness or surgery, she needs extra care and attention. You may need to give medication, check the wound or change a bandage. The extra care you provide during this period will help her recover more quickly.
Important during the recovery period:
- Give your cat sufficient rest and opportunity to sleep extra
- Administer any medication according to the guidelines
- Give any dietary food according to your vet's advice
- If your cat has a bandage or splint, check it regularly and make sure it stays in place
Contact your vet immediately in the following situations:
- If your cat suddenly appears very ill;
- In case of weakness/lethargy;
- In case of diarrhoea or vomiting (for more than 24 hours);
- If your cat refuses to eat for a day;
- If the bandage shifts;
- If you see a change around the wound;
- When your cat drinks an abnormally large amount.
