Is your cat drinking enough?
A little here, a little there. Cats do not readily go looking for water, but if they happen to come across it they will drink. This is where the danger lies: if cats drink too little, they can develop bladder problems. Reason enough to check whether your cat is drinking enough.
A fussy drinker
Water is an important part of your cat's diet. Cats are fussy drinkers. They have a sort of "checklist".
Is the water in a suitable place?
- Cats like to be able to drink in a quiet spot.
- You can encourage your cat's fluid intake by placing several water bowls in different locations.
Does the water smell fresh?
- Make sure the water bowl and food bowl are kept apart. This keeps the water clean and smelling fresher.
- Note: place the water bowl as far away from the litter tray as possible. Cats appreciate this.
Did you know that... cats prefer to drink from a dripping tap, watering can or large pond? This is not an option for every cat owner.
